I found a FENDER princeton 65 on Craigs list for $200 and seems to be in great shape. I know a couple people on this board have to own one of these. Sp can anyone tell me about it? How much do the tubes run? I was looking for a Fender Blues deville or something like that but I saw this today and I am thinking for $200 it's prob a good deal to jump on, although I don't know much about tube amps. I play blues guitar and I have a USA Fender 2001 Texas Fat Strat and I play it thru a Marshall MG100HDFX solid state and I think it would sound alot better thru a tube for my style and taste. If you have a FENDER princeton 65, how does it sound and I would think new they go for $800 plus?
I don't think they depreciate in value much if they are taken care of and original. The Princeton 65 is solid state & has a 12' spkr.
Not comparable at all in tone to the Princeton Reverb 65 reissue which has a 10' Jensen Spkr, tremelo, is all tube & sells new for $900 - $1100 range, depending on the store. The solid state Princeton has decent cleans up to about 5 on the dial. After that it begins to crap out in a not nice way. The overdrive section is poor compared to other solid state amps of the 90's, such as the Peavey Bandit for example.Loud enough for practicing at home, with a quieter drummer, but not with a heavy handed one.
